Woodspring Farm is situated on 400 Acers of rolling Bluegrass Countryside in historic Woodford County just outside the town of Versailles in Central Kentucky. Owned by Dr. Gary Priest, DVM and Kathy W. Priest, the farm caters to both the dressage and thoroughbred community with its acres of pastures, state of the art riding facilities and detail oriented care.
The Dressage area of the farm boasts a 14 stall center isle main barn with 11’6”x11’6” stalls, and an additional 12 stall barn for over flow and the accommodation of clinics. There are two riding arenas, an indoor a with a viewing area for spectators and a sound system, and an outdoor arena which is full court size and has a gazebo for shaded viewing. Both arenas have full mirrors and state of the art footing from Martin Collins Equine Surfaces. There are four large turnouts with automatic waters and one smaller turnout for horses who need a more contained environment. There is also a lunging ring for starting young horses and acres of rolling fields for hacking out.
The Thoroughbred part of the farm is made up of four barns, numerous fields and paddocks. Woodspring manages the breeding, foaling and care of brood mares and their young. Yong horses grow up together in large fields from the time that they are born to the time that they are ready to go to the track.
The horses at Woodspring Farm are proudly fed MaCully Brothers Brand Feed. Milled locally in down town Versailles, the MaCully Brothers feed’s contain only the best whole grains and nutrients and available in both textured and pelleted varieties. Nutritional experts on staff just down the road and 70 years of excellent in equine nutrition, not to mention a client list which boasts some of the top performance and breeding facilities in the country. Additionally Woodspring Farm grows and feeds all its own hay. This allows for optimal quality and control of everything that goes into the horses in their care.
Dr. Gary Priest, DVM, is not only an owner of the farm but plays a vital roll in the lives of the horses as the farm vet. The horses at Woodspring are placed on a strictly regimented, full farm, vaccination and worming cycle. Dr. Priest is one of the most experienced veterinarians and surgeons in the Thoroughbred industry and has been practicing in the greater Lexington KY area for more then 40 years.
